Use Data Tools, demo data, and reset safely
Use starter defaults, local demo data, repair tools, and destructive clear-all actions safely.
How to use this
Add missing defaults
Restore missing starter categories, sources, and currencies without demo transactions.
Reset starter defaults
Reset original defaults only when starter masters need repair.
Load demo data
Add local-only sample data for learning; it should not sync.
Remove demo data
Remove untouched local demo data when finished.
Clear all data
Use only when intentionally wiping data after warnings.

Keep repair separate from backup
Data Tools repair setup/data. Backup and Restore recovers data. They should not be confused.
Use starter defaults carefully
Add Missing Defaults should not remove user-created data. Reset Starter Defaults should not load demo transactions.
Keep demo local
Demo data is for learning on one device. It should be clearly marked local-only and removable.
Respect Danger Zone
Clear All Data needs multiple warnings and should not be used to fix small display issues.
Before you finish, check this
- Action name clearly says what will happen.
- Demo is local-only.
- User-created data is not removed by default restore.
- Clear All Data has strong confirmation.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Using factory reset to load demo data.
- Syncing demo data to another device.
- Putting reset tools under everyday Sync & Files.
- Removing user-edited records as demo.
